Students and faculty traveled to Africa this summer to participate in community service and learn about the history of Cape Town, South Africa. They explored the Cape of Good Hope, Robben Island, Aquila Private Game Reserve and observed the penguin colony at Boulders Beach. With the mission of St. Edward's in mind, the group worked on behalf of The Amy Biel Foundation Trust at a primary school, where they painted a mural, worked in the school garden and sang, read and danced with the young students. They also reflected at the prison that held Nelson Mandela for seventeen years. Dean Sharon Nell of the School of Humanities accompanied the group and provided the photos shown below.
