Dr. Thatcher pursued her doctoral studies in the area of Rhetoric and Language with an emphasis in Environmental Communication and Visual Rhetoric. Her dissertation is entitled, The Atypical Environmentalist: The Rhetoric of Environmentalist Identity and Citizenship in the Texas Coal Plant Opposition Movement.
While an undergraduate at St. Edward’s University, Dr. Thatcher was a Communication major specializing in Rhetorical and Cultural Studies. She prepared for graduate studies by completing courses such as Communication Theory, Rhetorical Criticism, and Rhetoric and Cultural Studies. Dr. Thatcher was a recipient of the Presidential Award in 2006 and in 2007 was honored by the New College for her 4.0 Overall G.P.A. Dr. Thatcher looks forward to securing a tenure track position and furthering her research in environmental communication, the rhetoric of social movements, and visual rhetoric.
