Michelle Villarreal, an alumna who graduated with a B.A. in Communication from St. Edward’s in 2010, is currently employed with Hidalgo County as a Public Affairs Specialist. Recently, she participated in Operation Lone Star, a joint collaborative effort among the Texas Military Forces, United States Public Health Service, Hidalgo County, and local organizations to provide free medical services to communities in the Rio Grande Valley, including Brownsville, San Juan, Rio Grande City, and Palmview. She served as the Public Information Officer, and helped to manage the over 1,200 medical services provided to more than 1,000 individuals from July 25 through July 29. Michelle commented that she thanks St. Edward’s University for her strong commitment to social justice and that her experience with “giving back through SEU was incredible and continues even after I’ve left the Hilltop!”
